Freedom
Freedom, like all the themes that I have introduced seems to be deeply attached to the idea of polyism. It seems to be misused very often especially to justify the wrongs that we do.Say something sensitive and we speak about the freedom of speach. When the rich get richer,(especially the sleazy ones who get rich through the "shortcut"),they speak about the freedom for capitalism.Sometimes these conditions are rather amusing than damning itself. There can never possibly be a cure for ignorance. And again, ignorance seems to be the very crux of the misusal of such a benevolent term.
For patriots, the word "freedom" is enough to create a tingling in the back of their necks, and to light a spark in their hearts. All to often we have heard of those who have given more than their lives for the sake of "freedom".We have heard the story of Mahatma Gandhi,Moses,Tunku Abdul Rahman,Michael Collins and more.Such people have let a legacy and the very mention of their name demands respect and reverence. They lived their live, and gave it freely for the sole purpose that their children and childrens children would never live a life denying their primal needs and their natural rights. This,by all definitions stands as the idealistic definition of freedom.
Yet,freedom also seems to adopt a malevolent definition too. Many people have fallen into the traps of fanaticism due to the idealogy of freedom. This has given rise to Butchers like Adolf Hitler,Josef Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili aka Josef Stalin etc.Men like these have forged their idealogy into a hammer and slammed into the very monolith of humane values itself.
Another approach of freedom is what I define as the "teenagers freedom".Being teenagers ourselves,we are too often exposed to this term of being free.Free from parental control.Free to do anything.Free to sleep anytime we want.NOt forgetting, the freedom to date any guy/girl that we want.
Great scholars have always shed a pessimistic light upon the noble term. Many regarded that freedom is only a prerequisite of happiness. In more simple terms, happiness is merely a temporary condition of freedom from our desires. When we achieve and fulfil our desire,we gain freedom from it and thus we are elated.
The frank idea of it all is,human beings can never be free.Pure freedom is a utopian idea.Pure freedom and release can only be accomplished through death(for buddhist and HIndus, after nirvana/Mokshaa).Man has always been, and will always be the slave of his desires.IT is hard for a person to be truly happy without going through the mechanism that I have described earlier. All in all,Freedom and Happiness are mirror effects of each other.
It would be sacrilegous of me to propose such an idea realising the fact of the amount of people who have given their lives for the idea.It would sadden those who have given their lives to realise that, after fighting for freedom for their people, they are again the slave of a different and more inert master. For example,we malaysians have been under the rule of the Japanese,British,Portuguese and Dutch. And after achieving "Independance",we are still slaves of a more global form of domination(eg,-capitalism).It would be even more amusing to introduce the role the UN here.Stephen King flung a mind breaking question in the novel "Firestarter".World Domination and World peace is the same thing he said.Similarly,by achieving freedom,we are slaves of another form or entity.
Thus,it would be wise to separate the definition of "independance" and "freedom" as two totally distinct ideas.I do agree that we are independant now.Are we really FREE?????
Similarly in live.We fight and struggle to be financially free.We fight and struggle to be free from a magnitude of subjects. But not many realise that we are running in a rat wheel.Displacement of a controlling factor, would mean introduction of a new agent.Isnt that amusing?Isnt it altogether ironic and damning?
Freedom is also defined by a specific border for its locus. It most cases, the boundaries of Freedom often clashes with the Law.Violation or overenthusiastic efforts would often result to the violation of Human, communal and social norms and laws.
Given the above,it would suffice to substantiate that the term "freedom" is a fragile one.Its borders and spaces of definition is much more confined than actually what we think.More right to say, freedom is not so natural as it seems. We have to struggle for it,eventhough it has been establish.Eventhough true freedom is impossible, struggle would make temporary freedom a reality. But yet again, displacement of the hindering agent would introduce a new one.Funny world that we live in.
My definition of freedom is strongly connected to my principles.Have a nice day,"free" people….lol
Loneliness…Oh How it tears the soul
I have done some soul-searching for the past few days.I had been plunged in the very depths of loneliness.Wherever I went,it seemed to follow me like a ghost.Eventhough I had friends all around me 24-7 , surprisingly It was there.Waiting for me,grinning like the devil himself, ever ready to swallow my soul and torture it with the screeching silence. He follows me like a cursed shadow, like a dark cloud raining only on me.
This all makes me wonder.Human being is a communal animal.A human can never live on his own.He feeds on attachment and on the feeling of being wanted, loved and appreciated.NO matter how many times he is hurt by a specific relationship,he never fails to return to it.Conversely, one time being burnt by fire is enough to keep any person far away from it for a long time. Why do we need relationships when all it provides is just a broken heart. When what we intend for a person is not the way a person sees it.Based on my past articles about truth and love,is this just alltogther another illusion that we feed upon, notwithstanding the fact that it has no concrete foundation?
Loneliness is a very funny thing.Ironically and paradoxically, it has the potential to destroy or also to create.Loneliness can result to despair and desolation. It also may lead to realization. All in all,its a classic example of a double edged sword.MOst of times, we use it to hurt ourselves.Together with loneliness comes resentment.
To put forward the question,"Why do we feel lonely"?’ would be damning.I would rather ask "How do we deal with it?".But be warned,it is not as easy as it seems. For the idea of "loneliness" is a fickle one.Alone or not alone, one thing is for sure.Loneliness seems to fall out from its definition and bug those who are defined as "well occupied".
Have a nice day guys….
Truth and Lies
Today’s topic seems to be an extremely interesting one.Long have people been misusing both the terms "Truth and Lies" without knowing the effect they implicate towards themselves and others.Telling out a lie is like throwing a little stone into a pond.It creates a ripple on the surface and thus initiates a whole chain reaction resulting in more wavelets.Similarly, we can induce from daily experience that a simple lie said would require more and more lies to support it.
Im sure everyone is well aware of the term "White Lie".For those who do not have the benefit of having heard of it before,it simply means -a lie which we tell for the good of someone. And before I elaborate on the idea of a "white lie".I would just like to pose out a simple question. What is Truth and What is a Lie?Is it as simple as what it seems.A truth is something synchronous and correct and a lie is something that violates the truth. If it is the definition that you have adopted till today, then be prepared to review it again. The term "Lie" is not an independant one.It is a comparative idea as it is dependant upon what we actually define the "Truth" as.Imagine it like a house built on a foundation.A lie is not a lie, when the truth for the given circumstance has not been established yet.Or simply said, in scientific terms, a "wrong" piece of information is not wrong until proven so.How do we prove it?…Simple…find out what is right.Lets take the example of one of the greatest blunder of modern times. For more than a thousand years, astronomics was governed by the Copernican Laws( Then defined as the truth). When Galileo Galilei proved that it was wrong he was imprisoned because he was deemed as a heretic.Today, after his pardoning in 1992,it is Galileo’s concept that was really true, not the Copernican one.In simple sense,Galileos theory was regarded as a "Lie" as it defied the widely accepted "Truth".
Now,back to the idea of "White Lie".The term white lie has been used extensively and often been misused commonly. Many propoganda’s , revolution, and filthy operations have been disguised in the facade of the term "Greater Truth","Greater Good of Humanity".All in all, it was nothing more than a "Lie".People deliberately lie, for the good of a person. For that person, at that instant, that "white lie" would seem like the truth itself.Lets apply this method daily.Imagine the time our parents, family members, loved ones, teachers,…have told the same thing to us just to merely hide the universal truth. Some of those lies, we have pinpointed and unlearnt. What about those which still remain as the cornerstone of our principles.
If so the case,WHO DEFINES WHAT IS THE TRUTH?Is the truth something which is agreed upon by EVERYONE.Or is just simply and merely a reference point where the degree of severity of a lie is proportional to how much it deviates from the truth. And what if the truth itself is not a fixed variable? Thus it is sound to introduce another "constant" in the equation that I call as the "Ultimate Truth".Sadly the "ultimate truth", is rather elusive and often impossible to determine. And sometimes, inadvertantly, the "Lie" itself happens to sit exactly upon the foundations of the "Ultimate Truth".Again, by introducing these taboo points, I have pinpointed the ephemereality of our surroundings.Nothing is for certain. The truth by human definition is practically a story written and accepted by those who have "won".Anything that violates that definition is a "lie".
Another one more interesting idealogy bout the term "Truth" is,all too often,we realise that the truth actually seems to be what people want to hear and not the ultimate one.Given the condition, a person would like to accept the "Disguised Lie" as a truth rather than accept it as what it really is.
The concept of "Truth and Lies" seems to be a tricky one.And some times,if not most of times,we deliberately misuse these terms. It is in the definition of "Good and Bad" that we can really elucidate on these issues. But again, the latter’s definition is also seated upon the crux of the definition of "Truth and Lies".Before we know it,we realise that in real, the world we live in is where the blind lead the blind.
Happy thinking….
Love
A little flounder was swimming in a vast ocean, apparently looking for something of great importance. He stopped by asking everyonethe same question.Again and again,he got the same answer. After many unsatisfying attempts, he decided to visit the most wisest of all the fishes.Upon meeting the elder fish, the flounder asked "OH wise one,i have travelled far and wide , and i havent found the answer to my question.I hope you may be able to shed some light upon it.My question is as simple as this; Please, tell me where is the ocean??".Surprisingly, the older fish, did not laught at his blatant question. But was engrossed in deep thought.Worried was he not of the question itself, but of the poor and ignorant flounder. Finally,he answered,"My son,the ocean is up to you to find,no one can tell you where it is".The flounder scurried off, again looking for the "Ocean".
What else could be worse than looking for the ocean itself when one was in it.What else could be worse than looking for love, when we have it and when its all around us.Term "love" seems to be a vast one.And to me, it is one of the most obscene four letter word an unenlightened person could ever mention.People have a multitude of definition to what truly love is.Throughout history, people killed in the name of love, died in the name of love and even sold their souls to Old Nick himself in the name of Love.
What is love actually? To many, the question itself is enough to plunge a person into fits.Is love just a biochemical interaction between hormones and their receptors. Is it one of God’s masterpiece plan to keep the population in balance.Love seems to be a more advanced form of mating.Bugs and bees use pheromones to attract and mate.We humans, use love to do so.Not many would agree to this rather pessimistic view of the term "Love".
Or is love something more subtle and uplifting(Like what many define it to be).The very sound of it would send girls hearts aflutter and their eyelids flapping like butterfly wings ; ).
I do realise that love is altogether more wide than the boy - girl kind of love. For instance love between friends, parental…etc.Yet,many do not realise that these concepts have already been consigned to the rubbish dump that we call time.Charles Darwin has proven that theres a little bit of animality in each an every human being.Activities such as incest have been gaining wide support in the modern era.HOw can a person fall in love with is own mother. And how can a dad have intercourse with his daughter. Is it possible for a brother to fall in love with his sister. The borders of the definition of love, has already been increased by leaps and bounds again.Notwithstanding the fact that it is taboo and totally despised by culture and religion.Human beings( or shall I say…DEVELOPED ANIMALS)…tend to ‘dig’ the idea.It is even more absurd, when concepts such as the Oedipus Complex and Electra Complex(please search for the meaning in yahoo) is accepted as a natural part of development of the human being. So , what makes these peopel special from animals, when they show almost similar behavioural patterns like them…Like dogs.
What is it in love that makes it so mystical and magical. What is it in love that makes a persons heart actually and physically HURT when we fail in it.What is it in love that allows the capability of a person to move from the most devastated state to the highest of the heavens in a split second. It is so magical and at the same time so…damning.
Irrespective of whatever your view of love may be,I would suggest that you have a proper definition of what it is.For,sooner or later, there are very few who can differentiate between the vastness of its meanings.Wheter it is love or infatuation, lust, passion, admiration …etc…
NO matter what happens, true and undivided love has and always will be a fantastic driving force for Man.Wise people always say " Its best to let sleeping dogs lie".Yet,in sync with current issues, I personally think that it is wise for all of us to redefine what we really think of love and wake up the sleeping dog.The the most pathetic of all conditions is for a person the become the little flounder that I mentioned in the anectode at the beginning.Do not take love for granted.
As for me,God is love.I would have the definition in the reverse way, rather than in the direct way.
Intelligence
The term "intelligence" seems to be a very controversial issue in the modern world. Most people tend to refer to their IQ or their EQ as a yardstick depicting their level of intelligence.Intelligence has always been regarded as a gift.No doubt it is 75percent inherited,it can be acquired.Todays rumination pokes onto the very core definition of intelligence itself.Lets take the value of 100 of the IQ scale as our point of reference. The value 100 is regarded as the basic intelligence level an average human being posseses( By definition). My question is, if, lets say, a fantastic cobbler, cook, carpenter posseses an intelligence level of 80 but performs his specific job impeccably, can we define him as intelligent?
As stated by the Theory of Natural selection and as proven by the fact that every human being is individual,it is horrendous to define human intelligence by a specific guideline or rule.I am well aware that there is a wide choice of "yardsticks" available to test or define intelligence.Yet,besides the IQ scale and EQ scale, how many of the lay people know about the "other" systems of measurement.
Given the fact, a person is naturally gifted, born a genius, doesnt the significance of his intelligence depend on how much he uses it for the good for others? The world is full of educated direlicts , geniuses without a proper destined port in life.Their life is merely nothing more than showing that they are far more superior than the others.Being gifted and not putting it to a good use is like knowing how to wield a superweapon, yet, letting it lay idle somewhere in the attics of time.Or even worse, knowing how to use a Red Eye Dragon(Bazooka) but using it to kill a mosquito.
Each person has a calling on earth. Each person has a specific duty to do on earth.Intelligence is the calling card( or cue) to set our future destination. To put it in simple terms. Those who are gifted or CURSED with this blessing in disguise have a burden and responsibility to fulfill. The enlighten ones should ENLIGHTEN!
FREELY YOU RECEIVE…FREELY YOU MUST GIVE!
Why
I did not set up this blog to educate, for it is not in the distinct part of my mind to do so.I am here to question, and hopefully find the answers to it.Unless you are ready to go against norms and taboos, please leave this site.I do not want to be the cause of your lose of faith.
Curiosity has been the single most powerful driving force to the advancement of humanity. At the same time, human scholars put themselve in jeopardy by introducing the saying "It was curiosity that killed the cat".Im neither here to advance or get killed. My definition of curiosity is altogether different.Who is it that defines the answer to what is right and wrong? Is it the bible? Is it great scholars? Is, an answer to a given question,a form of escapism towards the formation of a new and altogether more pierceing question or is it as simple as it seems; an answer? For instance, a curious 3 year old, would ask how do we get kids? As parents we would refrain from explaining the exact mechanism of it.MOST of us would resort to the absurd "stork story"or even worse, the "immaculate conception" story to stop any further form of investigation. As we see it, the outcome may proceed in 2 classic ways.Firstly, the kid would be satisfied with the answer and refrain from further questions( OH pity the lame and ignorant).Next, the OBSERVANT child would question even more, if giving birth is so immaculate, why cant he be the cause of another child,or why hasnt he seen a stork that flies in with the kid(Why do we go to the hospital??).The analogy may be interesting. It may even sound obnoxious and irrelevant.Doesnt the same case happen everyday of our life?
It is up to us to decide, who do we want to become. In this case, there is a flexible spectrum of choices. How would you chose the approach towards yourself and how would you chose your outward approach?
At the end of the day,it is questions ..questions and more questions?
Would it suffice to say that, a capable and functional human cannot live without questions and curiosity? If so, to what level should we take it to?..to the level where it would kill us or advance us?
The mind feeds on curiousity. That is my initial and standing hypothesis.
